Meet the 2012-2014 Fellows!September 10, 2012
We are thrilled to announce the new cohort of the 2012-2014 Dual Investment Program!
This spring, we invited Jewish activists, intellectuals, and community builders from across North America to apply to receive over $100,000 in funding and support to realize their visions to transform the Jewish landscape. Amazingly, more than 150 aspiring social entrepreneurs answered our call.
After an extensive review process, and meeting with an exceptional group of finalists, we have selected eight Fellows who demonstrate bold visions for impactful ventures and the leadership qualities needed to build entrepreneurial initiatives. They represent some of the Jewish community’s best and brightest, and together, form a portfolio of entrepreneurial responses that work toward creating just, vibrant and inclusive Jewish communities.
The 2012-2014 Fellows are:
- Sara Heitler Bamberger, Kevah
- Matt Bar, Bible Raps
- Rabbi Sarah Bassin, NewGround: A Muslim-Jewish Partnership for Change
- Sarah Blattner, Tamritz: Digital Badging
- Hyim Brandes, Online Jewish Academy
- Risa Alyson Cooper, Bela Farm at Shoresh
- Steve Eisenbach-Budner, Tivnu: Building Justice
- Elana Naftalin-Kelman, Rosh Pina
We encourage you to learn more about our Fellows and their ventures here.
New for this cohort: For the first time, JVG is partnering with The AVI CHAI Foundation and The Ruderman Family Foundation to co-support several Fellows whose work focuses on day school education and inclusion for people with disabilities. We are pleased to be working with these partners to advance breakthrough ideas that address important issues in our community.
Save the date: For those of you planning to attend JFNA’s General Assembly in Baltimore this year, we cordially invite you to join us on the evening of Sunday, November 11th, for a celebratory event in honor of the 2012-2014 Fellows. You’ll have the opportunity to interact with the Fellows and learn more about the work they are doing. Specific details regarding time and location will be announced closer to the event.
On behalf of our staff and board, we thank you for your continued support, and look forward to sharing more about our Fellows’ journeys with you as the Program progresses!
